Want all the adrenaline of a MOBA but don’t have time to fire up your PC or console? Then Mobile Legends Bang Bang is right up your alley. This mobile game combines real-time strategy with RPG elements but does so in a way that feels new yet entirely familiar, provided you’ve spent dozens of hours in classics such as DotA. You dive into 5v5 battles on large maps with every step crucial as you work together to take down the opposition.
It’s set in the large expanse of battlefield. You choose your hero and you plunge in, casting spells and skills while skilfully outguessing the enemy. Your goal? Push on, cherry pick some key objectives like towers and base but doing so with your team. It’s not a matter of raw power alone. Clever plays, such as using your ultimate ability at the right time and rotating to protect a lane, win games. Winning is in that close-knit teamwork one well-executed gank can turn the entire game.
Controls are easy to learn and intuitive, allowing for on-the-go play. Touch and swipe the left virtual “joystick” to move your hero around the battlefield. On the right, you’ll tap buttons to execute anything from simple attacks to absolutely epic superpowers, calling in allies or snagging items in mid-fight. There are no ponderous menus to slow you down, only pure flow that allows you to concentrate on the strategy.
As you win, especially by toppling those challenging bosses, you accumulate in-game currency and experience points. Use them to level up heroes, unlock new gear and build a flexible roster that fits your style, whether you prefer tanky bruisers or sneaky assassins.
What makes Mobile Legends Bang Bang shine though, is the polish. Gorgeous 3D graphics pop on screen, and come through the stereo sound as lush worlds burst into life rich jungles and neon-lit ruins with heroes that not only look sharp but also move with flair. Combine that with an soundtrack’s worth of throbbing beats and dramatic swells, and every battle is a slugfest showdown.
At the heart of it, this is a first-class mobile MOBA and one that brings much of the depth found in the PC favourites without perhaps requiring quite so much commitment. If team combat and hero mastery tickles your pickle, do give it a try you’ll find plenty to love in that quickfire dose of adrenalin.
